Our Story

Logo Design Inspiration

Inspired by the Twenty-Four Bridges of Yangzhou, the Seven Grams logo captures the elegant curves of traditional Chinese bridges — symbols of connection, balance, and cultural exchange. The flowing form reflects Yangzhou’s rich history and refined aesthetics. Within the design, the negative space forms the simplified Chinese character “苏” (Su), the abbreviation for Jiangsu Province, representing the brand’s roots and its deep connection to local culinary tradition.
Seven Grams is more than just a neighborhood Chinese restaurant—it is a destination for anyone who appreciates the art of authentic dumplings and the comforting flavors of Chinese home-style cooking. Conveniently located at 1086 Irvine Blvd in Tustin, California, the restaurant has become a favorite among locals and a delightful discovery for visitors exploring Orange County’s growing food scene. With its emphasis on high-quality ingredients, handcrafted preparation, and an inviting atmosphere, Seven Grams sets itself apart as a culinary experience worth savoring.

A Bridge Between Cultures

Inspired by the Twenty-Four Bridges of Yangzhou, food becomes a shared language beyond borders, quietly bringing people together.

Why Seven Grams?

In Chinese, “Seven Grams” is pronounced as Qi Ke. In traditional Chinese culture, the number seven is often associated with harmony, balance, and refinement. More importantly, seven grams represents the ideal weight of the dumpling wrapper — thin and delicate, yet strong enough to hold a generous amount of filling and rich soup. This precise balance ensures a translucent skin and a perfectly satisfying bite in every Xiao Long Bao.

A Philosophy of Balance

Seven grams is not just a name, but a philosophy. It represents the precise weight of the dumpling wrapper — light, delicate, and perfectly balanced — allowing the flavors within to fully shine. This attention to detail reflects our pursuit of harmony in taste, texture, and craftsmanship, delivering a refined Xiao Long Bao experience in every bite.

Craftsmanship

At Seven Grams, every dumpling begins with a simple but timeless ritual—the art of wrapping. A ball of smooth dough is rolled into delicate, round wrappers, soft yet strong enough to hold the flavors within. A spoonful of fresh filling—whether it’s savory pork with ginger and scallion, sweet shrimp, or a fragrant vegetarian mix—is placed at the center. With practiced hands, the dough is pleated one fold at a time, like petals coming together to form a flower. The top is gently twisted closed, sealing in the rich broth and aroma.

Once arranged neatly in the steamer, the dumplings slowly transform. Steam rises, filling the air with warmth and fragrance, until each dumpling emerges—plump, tender, and ready to burst with flavor. At Seven Grams, this process is more than just cooking; it’s a craft passed down through tradition, elevated with care, and shared with every guest who takes that first, unforgettable bite.
